Heritage Compass Legacy

Heritage Compass Symposium 2023

The Heritage Compass programme works to support the sector in developing essential skills in business planning, audience development, leadership and change management, with the aim of creating a better connected, informed and resilient heritage landscape across England.

Whilst the core Heritage Compass programme has come to an end, as part of Heritage Compass Legacy, we are continuing to support the sector through a range of targeted activities.

Access to Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy Training

As part of Heritage Compass Legacy, we want to empower the fundraising efforts of the heritage sector by providing free access to our programme of virtual fundraising training. We offer a broad selection of courses for fundraisers at all stages, covering everything from the broad essentials to specialised areas like legacy gifts and corporate partnerships.

The training is tailored for arts, culture and heritage organisations, led by sector professionals who understand the unique challenges facing our sector.

This exclusive offer removes financial barriers and empowers you to develop a skilled fundraising team. Build confidence, ambition, and resilience in your fundraising efforts and expand your knowledge into new areas.

Heritage Compass Strategy Support Programme

Running from September 2024 to February 2025, 10 organisations will join us for a series of workshops to develop their skills and be supported in creating their own Fundraising Strategy. Support will include:

  • Development of a fundraising strategy, including organisational analysis
  • Benchmarking
  • Recommendations for messaging and resourcing
  • A light-touch fundraising plan

In the last iteration of the Strategy Support Programme, we were proud to work with:

  • Colne Valley Regional Park
  • Fashion and Textile Museum
  • Invisible Palace
  • Salford Community Leisure
  • Wimbledon Windmill Museum
  • Babylon Arts
  • Crossness Engines Trust
  • The Centre for Indian Classical Dance
  • Qube
  • Station South

We look forward to watching these organisations continue their development!

Heritage Compass Networks Funding

We are offering core financial support to Heritage groups or networks, led by participating organisations on the Heritage Compass programme. Our funding will contribute to the development of new training events, conferences, seminars or meetings, with the aim of strengthening skills and building robust partnerships across the heritage sector, ultimately establishing a legacy for Heritage Compass.

We were overwhelmed by the incredible applications we received, all showcasing a diverse range of ideas and tackling crucial fundraising topics within the heritage sector. We’re proud to be supporting a real range of networks and groups – both established and new! – in this application round.
