The Whitaker is a museum based in Rossendale, a small, rural/post-industrial authority in Lancashire. The museum is a ‘mill-owners home’, gifted to the people of the borough in the late 1890’s. There is no entry charge and there are free events throughout the year. The Whitaker is a local museum with a global tale.

“We aim to share and show the history of our area, with a knowledge to its impact on the future. We want to ensure generations to come recognise their place within the social, natural and environmental collections, building and surrounding park land.”
