The Gefrin Trust

Gefrin Trust

In 2002 Ad Gefrin (Yeavering), one of the most significant sites in early Northumbrian history, passed into the hands of the Gefrin Trust. The Gefrin Trust was formed to ensure the future preservation of the site through sympathetic management, conservation, and investigation.

“We have focused our work over the last two decades on our original objectives for the site that has included the preparation of an archaeological research framework to help direct research on the site and in the surrounding landscape. Now our programme of research is underway (including excavation) we are turning our attention to developing other aspects of the Trusts work with the local community; exploring the potential of the site as a visitor destination with local partners.”
