Newcastle Cathedral is the mother church for the Diocese of Newcastle, which stretches from the River Tyne to the River Tweed and serves Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. Prayer and worship are offered here daily, as they have been for over nine hundred years. The Cathedral hosts great religious and civic occasions, and plays a major role in the cultural and spiritual life of a city.

“Our aim is to make sacred space common ground. National Lottery Heritage Fund funding has helped us open up the nave and re-landscaped grounds for all types of community and business activity with exhibitions, events and new interpretation, which tells the stories of the people who helped make Newcastle what it is today. More than a place of worship, we are growing our reputation as a heritage destination which provides a warm welcome to everyone.”
