Museum of Bath Stone

The Museum of Bath Stone is the gateway into the story of Bath Stone, its village and its people. Through preservation, display and interpretation, the Museum of Bath Stone brings to life Bath’s stone mining industrial history in a well-resourced visitor centre. It explores the historic and cultural influence of the stone on the development of Combe Down and the surrounding city of Bath from prehistory to the present. Through a wide range of media, visitors are invited to share the experience of the under and overground world of Combe Down and its stone. The significance of the quarried stone is made accessible to visitors of all ages, abilities and interests. The museum is also maintained as a versatile space, available to the local community for activities of their choice.
