Gosport Borough Council is part of a consortium including four other organisations (Hants County Council, Gosport Society, Historic England and Ministry Of Defence). As the Royal Navy pull out of Gosport, historic sites are being released onto the market. Part of the Heritage Action Zone’s role is to ensure that sites are appropriately disposed in line with the Local Plan meeting employment and residential goals. The other part is creating access to Gosport heritage across the borough, through community events and negotiation with private land owners.
