Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum

The Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum is situated in the village of Skinningrove, a five minute walk from the coast. The museum is unique as it is based within original mine buildings and the visitor is given a guided tour of the site which concludes with a demonstration of ironstone mining of the Victorian period. The rich industrial heritage of iron stone working and the social history which supported it within the region, including the North York Moors, is celebrated in the museum. The museum also provides walks and events which celebrates not only the industrial but also the social and natural heritage of the region, including the North York Moors.
